Meet the High Philosophers
This summer, audiences at the Greenfield Summer Concert Series will be treated to a unique local act with deep roots in collaboration and creativity. The High Philosophers, a volunteer band made up entirely of coworkers from across the High companies, will take the stage prior to Prima Theatre at the June Greenfield Summer Concert, marking the band’s debut appearance in the popular community series.
The High Philosophers was formed in 2024 after an idea from Mike Shirk, Chief Executive Officer of the High companies, sparked interest in bringing coworkers together through music. That idea quickly gained momentum when Darryl Gordon, Chief Human Resources Officer, began identifying musical talent across the organization. The group was assembled, rehearsals were organized, and the band prepared for its first performance at the High Forum, the High companies’ annual event.
Since then, the nine‑member band has performed for a variety of audiences and continues to grow its presence. The group includes musicians from several High companies, featuring lead singer and keyboardist Greg Spaulding and keyboardist and vocalist Abby Hess of High Construction Company; vocalist Teresa Green of High Hotels; lead guitarist and vocalist Jamie Pinkerton of High Steel Service Center; rhythm guitarist John McCormick of StructureCare; bass guitarists Jay Enriquez of High Steel Structures and Jason Miles of High Steel Service Center; percussionist Graham Weaver of High Associates; and percussionist Darryl Gordon of the High companies.
Beyond live performances, the High Philosophers also partnered with a local film company to produce their first music video — another creative milestone for the group.
The upcoming Greenfield performance offers the wider community a chance to experience the High Philosophers firsthand and enjoy a concert that reflects the shared talent, teamwork, and passion that extend well beyond the workplace.
